OUR STORY
ROOTS TO WINGS
our passion and process
High n' Wide is more than hats. As a 5th-generation Montanan, i have a deep respect for hard work and resourcefulness. My life came with its hardships, but they shaped my resilience and creativity. As a small town weirdo kid i developed my own sense of being while absorbing the amazing landscape around me, right under the Mission Mountains. Now, I’m a mom of two and a wife, building a life rooted in dedication and adventure. I care for a small garden and farm animals, i love to see live music, eat good food, and adventure through nature with my family and friends. I wanted a hat that followed my lifestyle; a hat that has quality and is creative, playful without being excessive. A hat for all life's adventures.
My love and respect for Montana grew from the landscapes, the colors, and the unspoken stories of those who came before me. Watching my great-grandfather’s legacy and learning as i got older really made a connection to my views of the protection of this land and the original people. I want to honor this land—its vastness, its wild spirit, and its enduring strength.
After 16 years as a preschool teacher—10 of those running my own school—I shifted gears to bring my love of fashion, nature, and bold individuality to life. I raise goats, farm birds, and find inspiration in the micro-details of Montana, like the iridescent hues of a rainbow trout. My hand-painted wide-brim hats are made for those who take up space, embrace adventure, and carry a piece of the Wild with them wherever they go.
